Whose data the birth chart is computed on, and under which licence: GeoNames places, JPL ephemerides through Orekit, Font Awesome icons, open fonts.

The birth chart on this site is computed on the server from data that other people gathered and shared. This page says whose, and under which licence.

Places

The city of birth is resolved against a copy of the GeoNames geographical database held on our own server — names, coordinates, time zones. GeoNames is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Nothing you type is sent to GeoNames; the lookup is local, and your details are never stored.

The sky

Planet positions are computed with the Orekit library (Apache License 2.0) on the JPL DE440 ephemerides of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, with the Earth orientation parameters of the IERS. Time zones come from the IANA time zone database.

Icons and type

Icons are Font Awesome Free (icons CC BY 4.0, fonts SIL Open Font License 1.1, code MIT). The text is set in Cormorant Garamond and Nunito, both under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Everything else

The words, the music, the photographs and the illustrations are Élodie Joy’s. The site runs on the arcate platform.
